If your lifestyle includes sitting at a desk all day, heavy lifting, or prolonged periods of standing, wether your chosen fitness programs are gentle or active, imbalances in the body can result.  Essentrics® works all 650 muscles in the body to bring balance back into our musculature and mobility within the joints, leaving you feeling energized with a sense of physical freedom.

While the technique is original in itself, it has been influenced by several disciplines. Essentrics® draws on the flowing movements of Tai Chi, which create health and balance, the strengthening theories behind ballet, which create long, lean, flexible muscles, and the healing principles of physiotherapy, which create a pain-free body.

Essentrics® was created by Miranda Esmonde-White. Miranda is a former professional ballerina, best selling author of Aging Backwards and Forever Painless, and the host of the PBS fitness TV show Classical Stretch.

What students have to say:

What you may need to have at class:

The use of equipment will vary for each class. For some routines, we'll use a chair for standing stretches, while others offer floor work. Having a folded towel as well as a stretch band helps to accommodate both comfort and alignment. These optional additions are to add dimension to your workout and not required for participation.
